Blackmail and Boot Neon Closeup, SoCo - Austin, Texas
The interplay of neon signs as seen in SoCo, Austin, Texas. There are some nice neon signs in SoCo, South Congress area just south of downtown. They are frequent photography subjects of mine. I used a telephoto zoom to isolate the two sigs and get rid of distracting elements. Continental Logo #2 - Austin, Texas
Taken on South Congress Avenue just south of downtown Austin, Texas. The 3rd in a series of images from an old Lincoln I found park on the street. The photograph was shot over a year and half ago with my Canon 50mm f1.4 lens which has a really shallow depth of field. This lens isn't particularly sharp at f1.4 but it does have a nice dreamy quality, which I liked for this old Lincoln Continental. Continental Interior - Austin, Texas
Taken on South Congress Avenue just south of downtown Austin, Texas. Continuing with the Lincoln Continental theme from yesterday, here is a look inside this classic car. You can clearly tell that this car is from another era. No longer do you see those bits of shinny chrome and that wide open button-less steering wheel in a modern vehicle. I shot this photograph over a year and half ago with my then new Canon 50mm f1.4 lens. Taken on South Congress Avenue just south of downtown Austin, Texas. I shot this photograph over a year and half ago. Back then, I just purchased my Canon 50mm f1.4 lens and was having fun shooting it wide open (maximum aperture) at f1.4. Taken on South Congress Avenue, the Hey Cupcake trailer at blue hour. A rare site when there are no customers in line. A small sign to the left indicates that they are sold out. I've always like glow of lights around the shiny silver Airstream trailer. Heritage Boot, South Congress Avenue - Austin, Texas
The Heritage Boot and Blackmail neon signs on South Congress Avenue, just south of downtown in Austin, Texas. Unlike yesterday's neon post from north Austin, this one is the trendy SoCo neighborhood on the opposite side of town. I'm attracted to the the glow of the neon and store fronts. Ideally, I like to capture them at the hight of blue hour. Chicken, Ms P's Electric Cock - Austin, Texas
The large neon Chicken sign on a South Congress trailer. Food Trailers have become very popular in Austin, particularly in SoCo, an area just south of downtown. This large chicken sign is a new addition to SoCo and the trailer has a most interesting name, Ms P's Electric Cock. I shot several angles of the sign but liked this one the most. Guero's Taco Bar, Window View - Austin, Texas
A view into the lively and popular Guero's Taco Bar on South Congress Avenue in the SoCo area of Austin. SoCo is one of the "in spots" just south of downtown and Guero's has been there a while, even before the renaissance from this once seedy neighborhood into one of the hippest spots in Austin. Austin Motel, Approaching Blue Hour - Austin, Texas
The famous red neon Austin Motel sign on South Congress Avenue, just south of downtown Austin. I've taken many images of this sign. This time I captured it just as "Blue Hour" was starting, about 10 minutes after sunset. I like the blue to pink gradient in the sky and the contrast with the red neon. The image was underexposed -0.3 of a stop to preserve the detail in the neon was well as increasing the color in the sky.
