Taken at night on the University of Texas campus in Austin from a photowalk that I attended last weekend. This is the last image from this mini UT photowalk series. Green Glow, University of Texas - Austin, Texas

A quiet walkway on the campus of the University of Texas, at night. The green color was enhanced a bit for effect. The leading lines of the walkway as well as the soft glow from the lights attracted me to this scene. It was shot hand-held with the Olympus E-P3 and the Lumix 14mm f2.5 lens. Blue Hour on the Drag, University of Texas - Austin, Texas

Here is another Blue Hour scene from the University of Texas photowalk, this past weekend. You can see the Varsity Neon, that I posted yesterday. This is a wider angle of 24th and Guadalupe Streets on "The Drag", a shopping area on the western edge of campus. The Varsity building used to be a Tower Records store, back not too long ago, when selling records and CDs were profitable. The cloud texture during blue hour was particularly interesting that night. Varsity Neon, University of Texas - Austin, Texas

Right next to the University of Texas on Guadalupe Street, also known as "The Drag", I noticed this new development. What was once a Tower Records store has been converted into several restaurants. A group of us arrived in this area, near blue hour, after a photo walk of the UT campus. I couldn't resist taking may favorite kind of image, neon lights against a deep blue sky. Moody Greenhouse, University of Texas - Austin, Texas

There is a greenhouse in the middle of the University of Texas campus, just behind the famous UT Tower. It's old, worn and looks out of place; probably used by the biology department for some kind of plant experiments. During a photowalk on Saturday, I noticed the light reflecting nicely off the glass panels. The conversion to black and white seems to add more mystery and makes for a moodier feel. Littlefield Fountain, University of Texas - Austin, Texas

An atypical angle of the Littlefield Fountain on the University of Texas campus. This was taken from the back looking south towards the University Christian Church. I used bracketing on the Olympus to shoot 5 images that I combined to create a high dynamic range (HDR) photograph. Want to see more photowalk images from UT? Peter Turnley, ACP Icons of Photography #13 - Austin, Texas

Peter Turnley, photojournalist and street photographer, talks about his experiences shooting the 9/11 tragedy back in 2001 and his relationship with this particular fire fighter. His lecture at the Blanton Museum of Art on the University of Texas campus is part ACP's Icons of Photography series, #13. Jacquelyn's Leica M6, Peter Turnley Lecture - Austin, Texas

Seen at the ACP's Icons of Photography Lecture with Peter Turnley. The event was held at the Blanton Museum of Art on the University of Texas campus. I noticed Jacquelyn sporting a Leica M6 before the event started. There were actually many Leica's brought to the event. Lockers, as seen in the Blanton Museum of Art on the University of Texas campus. I noticed this grid like, repeating pattern on a recent trip to the Blanton. The image was converted to black and white to bring out the texture of the wood.

Lucky Lounge - Austin, Texas

The very red interior of the Lucky Lounge, a popular bar in the warehouse district in downtown Austin, Texas. I was attracted by the red reflections off the red wall. The image was shot on table top tripod and a 6 second exposure.

Tree with Classic Architecture, University of Texas - Austin, Texas

Here is the last in a mini-series of photographs taken at the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk that took place this past weekend on the University of Texas campus. As with the previous photograph, the image was converted to black and white using Topaz B&W Effects, which I reviewed on my blog. Also similar to the previous photograph, I was attracted to the light pattern cast by the tree on the wall with the classic architecture.

Taken at the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk this past weekend on the University of Texas campus. I converted this image of the Littlefield Dormitory into a black and white to bring out the light texture, painted on the brick facade. I used the Topaz B&W Effects plug-in, that I reviewed recently, to create this toned black and white.

Scott Kelby Photowalk, Early Morning Malaguti - Austin, Texas

Taken today during the fourth annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. The Malaguti is a Italian made scooter, that I found on the University of Texas campus in Austin. I purposely included the early morning sun rays to wash over the scooter and bath it in warm light.

Model 8 iPhone Portrait, iWalk - Austin, Texas

An iPhone Portrait of Model 8. Taken yesterday during the iWalk iPhone Photowalk organized by Jack Hollingsworth and Alex Suarez. The photograph was taken with the Camera+ app. The left is the original image captured on the iPhone and the right is the in-iPhone processing using Camera+, with the Clarity setting and FX effects, cyanotype at 31%. The two photographs where then downloaded, combined in Pixelmator and sharpned a bit before export.

Rachel with Owle, iWalk iPhone Photowalk - Austin, Texas

Rachel uses her iPhone attached an Owle during the iWalk iPhone Photowalk organized by Jack Hollingsworth and Alex Suarez. The Owle looks like an interesting accessory. It stabilizes the iPhone by adding large grips and weight, attaches a macro or wide-angle lens and adds a tripod mount.
